State Farm Center

State Farm Center is a multipurpose indoor arena situated in Champaign, Illinois, United States, and owned and operated by the University of Illinois. Originally known as Assembly Hall, the facility opened on March 2, 1963, and is recognised for its distinctive dome-shaped architecture, which resembles a flying saucer. The building was designed by architect Max Abramovitz of the architectural firm Harrison & Abramovitz. In April 2013, the university announced a 30-year naming-rights agreement worth $60 million with State Farm, an insurance company headquartered in Illinois, resulting in the venue's renaming as State Farm Center. The arena serves as the home venue for the University of Illinois Fighting Illini men's and women's basketball programmes and also accommodates concerts, theatrical productions, family entertainment and university events. Its seating capacity varies according to the event and configuration. Following a major renovation completed in 2016, the arena accommodates approximately 15,544 spectators for basketball games, while selected entertainment arrangements can provide seating for around 16,500 people or more.
