The primary sport played here is football. This is the home stadium of Serie A clubs S.S. Lazio and A.S. Roma. The stadium also hosts the final of Coppa Italia. It was reconstructed before the 1990 FIFA World Cup and has been rated as a category four stadium of UEFA. Significance
- This stadium saw the first-ever win of the Italian Rugby team triumphed their first win at the stadium in the 2013 Six Nations Championship against Ireland.
- It is supposed to host the 2020 UEFA Euro Championships.
- The stadium has hosted a total of five matches of the 1990 World Cup. One amongst them was the final between West Germany and Argentina.
- During the 1960 Summer Olympics, the stadium hosted the opening ceremony, closing ceremony and the athletics competitions of the event.
