Sheffield Arena is a Sports and Music Venue, located in Sheffield. It hosts various sporting events such as Elite Ice Hockey League, WBA Title, WBO Title, IBF Title & a basketball practice match for 2012 London Olympics and annual commercial events such as Disney on Ice, The X Factor, Britain's Got Talent, Strictly Come Dancing and Dancing on Ice. It is the home ground of Sheffield Steelers Ice Hockey team that plays in the Elite Ice Hockey League. The arena is owned by Sheffield City Trust and maintained by Sheffield International Venues. The stadium’s name has changed five times from the time it opened in 1991. It opened as Sheffield Arena and was renamed Hallam FM Arena in 2002. In 2010, it was again renamed as Motorpoint Arena Sheffield, after a car company invested £1 million for naming rights. It changed back to its original name Sheffield Arena and had a maximum capacity of 13,500. Apart from other events, famous celebrities as Russell Brand, Lee Evans, John Bishop, Ricky Gervais and Peter Kay have performed here attracting a large number of audience to visit the arena.
