NSC Olimpiyskiy, also known as Olympic National Sports Complex, is a multi-use sporting complex in the City of Kiev, Ukraine. The structure has been designed by architect L.V. Pilvinsky and was opened on 12th August 1923. In 1996, the stadium was renamed the Olympic National Sports Complex, given national status. It underwent a major renovation between 1997-99 as per the FIFA guidelines which resulted in a reduced capacity of 83,400. The stadium is owned by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine. At present, it is the home of Dynamo Kyiv F.C. NSC Olimpiyskiy is considered as one of the main stadia used for football in Ukraine and the sixteenth largest in Europe.

Trivia

NSC Olimpiyskiy is one of the main stadiums in Ukraine and the second largest in Eastern Europe.
The stadium hosted football matches for the 1980 Summer Olympics.<br />

Significance

The stadium played host to the Ukrainian Cup Finals until 2008.
The stadium had its international inauguration with a friendly match between Ukraine and Germany on 11th November 2011, which resulted in a 3-3 draw.
On 1st July 2012, the stadium hosted the UEFA Euro Cup final match between Spain and Italy where the former emerged victorious with record breaking score of 4-0 on the way to their third title.
The arena has hosted a total of seven football matches; three Group C and three Group D matches as well as a Quarter-Final match between East Germany and Iraq in the 1980 Summer Olympics.
The stadium is also used as home matches for Shakhtar Donetsk due to the war in Donbass that began in May 2020.
There are also several other sports facilities in the complex next to the stadium, it is intended for the Olympic Games.
