Nippert Stadium is an outdoor football stadium, located in the City of Cincinnati, Ohio and is used as the home ground by the Cincinnati Bearcats of the American Athletic Conference and FC Cincinnati of United Soccer League. Earlier (in 1901), it had wooden bleachers until permanent concrete stands were built in 1915. The construction began in 1915 and completed within a year. It was renovated several times over the years. During the renovation in 1924, the stadium was redesigned in a horseshoe shape. The completely renovated stadium was dedicated to James Gamble Nippert in 1924 with a capacity of 12,000. At present, it has a capacity of 40,000 spectators.

Trivia

Nippert Stadium is the fourth oldest playing site and fifth oldest stadium in college football.
The Nippert Stadium was named after the UC player James Gamble Nippert who died due to blood poisoning.

Significance

Former U.S. President Barrack Obama held a rally only two days before the election at Nippert Stadium (on 2nd November 2008) with almost 27,000 attendees.
The playing surface of the Nippert Stadium is known as the Carson Field as a tribute to Arch Carson, the organizer of UC’s first football team. The field was built in a decade starting from 1900.
James N. Gamble of "Procter and Gamble" (American consumer goods corporation) donated $250,000 to complete the construction of the stadium.
On 3rd August 1975, the stadium hosted the Ohio River Rock Festival.
In the year 2012, the stadium was referred as the best football venue by "USA Today".
The Bearcats hosted the UConn Huskies on 24th October 2015, on Homecoming weekend, witnessed by a record attendance of 40,124 spectators.
