Officially known as PPC Newlands (as of 2015), this ground is counted amongst the most beautiful cricket grounds of the world that can be overlooked by Table Mountain and Devil's Peak. The ground was opened in 1888, the year when the DHL Newlands stadium near the ground was inaugurated. It is a home ground of franchise cricket team "Cape Cobras" that play in SunfoilSeries, MomentumOneDayCup, T20 competitions.

The South African cricket team has won 25 of its ODI matches on this ground, losing only 5.
Significance
The ground witnessed its first ODI match on 7th December 1992 in which South Africa won over India by 6 wickets. As of 2014, the ground has hosted a total of 36 ODI matches including five matches of 2003 World Cup.
On 24th March 1889, the ground hosted its first Test match in which England dominated South Africa by 202 runs and an innings.
Australian Rules football matches have also been played here. A total number of 10,123 spectators viewed a match between Brisbane Lions and Fremantle in 1998.
