One famous incident happened in "Raw" held here on 12th October 1998, when "Stone Cold" Steve Austin drove a truck full of cement into the arena and filled Mr. McMahon's (an American professional wrestling promoter) costly Chevrolet Corvette with cement.
The Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum is also known as the Nassau Coliseum. It is a multi-purpose indoor arena in Uniondale, New York, opened for public in the year 1972. It was temporarily shut for renovation and was re-openedĀ in early 2017. It is located approximately 19 miles (31 km) east of New York City on Long Island and is famous for its unique architectural design. The location of the coliseum-Mitchel Field was the former site of Army and Air Force base. The Coliseum also hosts sports events, concerts, conferences and even trade shows.
Significance
- The Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum has hosted various WWE events including WWE Raw and WWE Smackdown. It was a home venue of WWE for over 30 years.
- It hosted the opening event of WrestleMania on 7th of April 1986.
- The Coliseum hosted its first event on 11th February 1972. It was an ABA game played between the New York Nets and the Pittsburgh Condors.
- The Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum hosted its final event of WWE on May 25th, 2015.
- It is the home venue of the Long Island Nets team of NBA D-League.
- "King of Rock and Roll" Elvis Presley had performed here in four concerts in 1973.
