Nashville Superspeedway is a famous motor racing complex, located in Gladeville, Tennessee, United States, about 48 km southeast of the Nashville city. The track was built in early 2001 but is currently closed to all types of competitive events, though it’s still used by private users such as driving schools and GT Academy. It has a concrete oval track measuring 2.145 km. Nashville Superspeedway is owned by Dover Motorsports Incorporated, which is also the owner of Dover International Speedway. The current seating capacity is around 50,000 which can be expanded up to 150,000. The Nashville Superspeedway is one of the few tracks in the world that has hosted competitive truck racing.
Significance
- The IndyCar Series Firestone Indy 200 competitive racing had been conducted on this track until 2008.
- Nashville Superspeedway has been featured in various television and film projects.
- Nashville Superspeedway track has given a golden opportunity to many racers to debut in the racing world successfully.
- Till 1984, Nashville Speedway had already conducted a pair of 420-lap Cup races but NASCAR suddenly pulled its sanctioning license from the circuit due to conflicts over who would handle the track before 1985 season.
- During its peak time, the facility used to host around four major races each year: two NASCAR Nationwide Series races (from 2001 till 2011) and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races (one race/year until 2010).
- Nashville Superspeedway used to be the longest concrete oval in NASCAR during the time when it actively hosted the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and NASCAR Nationwide Series.
