Located in the central part of the city, Mordovia Arena is a beautiful football stadium, expanded on an area of 122,700 m2. The design of the stadium is inspired by the Sun, the symbol of power according to the Mordovian people. It is the home stadium of FC Mordovia Saransk that competes in the Russian Professional Football League. One of the unique structures is the steel skeleton of the arena which is covered with finishing panels. After the World Cup, the capacity of the stadium will be reduced to 28,000.

The distance of spectators' seats is kept only 90 m away from the football field to provide a better view.
Significance
The stadium hosted its first match on 21 April 2018.
The western facade of the stadium faces towards the embankment of the Insar River.
The famous Moscow-based company Sport-Engineering developed the arena with various facilities to host the FIFA World Cup matches in a span of around eight years from 2010 to 2018. However, the final look of the arena is given by a local company 'Saransk Grazhdan Proekt'.
The walls and roofs of the arena are made from a single shell of perforated metal panels and are painted in bright colours as a sign of warmth hospitality according to the design theme of the stadium.
