Minsk-Arena is the largest full-time arena used by a Kontinental Hockey League team.
Minsk-Arena is a multi-purpose indoor arena in the city of Minsk, Belarus. The Minsk-Arena Complex is unique in its compound and functionality throughout Europe. It is the home ground of the Hockey Club Dinamo-Minsk (an ice hockey team based in Minsk) and includes a multi-sports and entertainment arena for 15,000 spectators. Although the stadium is primarily used for ice hockey, it also conducts speed skating, tracks cycling and for bandy. Built in between 2006-09, the arena opened its door for spectators on 30th January 2010.
Significance
- Three KHL regular-season games were scheduled in January played by Dinamo Minsk against Metallurg Magnitogorsk on 14th January, Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg on 16th January and Traktor Ice Hockey Club on 18th January.
- It hosted the eSports Starladder i-League Season 13 gaming tournament in January 2016. Games such as "Dota 2" and "Counter-Strike: Global Offensive" were played here.
- On 9th and 10th January 2016, the European Speed Skating Championship's events were held here.
- The official opening of the stadium took place on 30th January 2010 with the second Kontinental Hockey League All-Star Game.
- As part of a celebration, 600 episodes of "A State of Trance", famous Dutch DJ Armin Van Buuren were performed at the facility on 7th March 2013.
- Jennifer Lopez performed at the stadium on 25th September 2012 during her "Dance Again World Tour".
- The stadium saw Depeche Mode performances on 29th July 2013 and 28th February 2014 as part of their "Delta Machine Tour".
- The first match in the arena was played on 14th January 2010 between Dinamo Minsk and Metallurg Magnitogorsk.
- The French singer Mylène Farmer performed at the arena on 27th October 2013.
- It was one of the two major venues for the 2014 IIHF (International Ice Hockey Federation) World Championship.
- It was also the place for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest which was held on 20th November 2010.
- There is a possibility that the 2018 Bandy World Championship will be played in Minsk-Arena.
