The Maria Lenk Aquatics Center is a center for aquatics sports in the City of Sports Complex, at Barra da Tijuca in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The facility was inaugurated in the year 2007 and taken over by the Brazilian Olympic Committee in March 2008. The committee uses the venue for training Olympic and Paralympics athletes. The center is named in honour of the Brazilian swimmer Maria Lenk, one of the greatest Brazilian athletes who died three months before the inauguration. The total crowd capacity of the stadium is 8,000, the center being spread across an area of 42,000 square meters. The facility was considered to be one of the major assets.

Trivia

This stadium was constructed to host the aquatics competitions such as swimming, synchronized swimming and diving competitions of the 2007 Pan American Games.
The venue also arranges training for coaches and officials and has facilities of a gym and small schools of water polo, diving, swimming and synchronized swimming.

Significance

Maria Lenk Aquatics Center hosted the group matches of water polo during the 2016 Summer Olympics.
To celebrate the Olympic Day, the Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB) organized a run from this venue for teens between 11-14 years old.
The Maria Lenk Aquatics Center is one amongst the eight permanent sports facilities of the Olympic Training Center.
The park is partially covered and has an Olympic-sized Swimming pool, a tank for diving and an indoor heating facility.
The water park has been designed following the specifications and parameters of the FINA (International Swimming Federation).
The facility also hosted the synchronized swimming and diving competitions of the Rio de Janeiro Summer Olympics in 2016.
