The Maria Lenk Aquatics Center is a center for aquatics sports in the City of Sports Complex, at Barra da Tijuca in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The facility was inaugurated in the year 2007 and taken over by the Brazilian Olympic Committee in March 2008. The committee uses the venue for training Olympic and Paralympics athletes. The center is named in honour of the Brazilian swimmer Maria Lenk, one of the greatest Brazilian athletes who died three months before the inauguration. The total crowd capacity of the stadium is 8,000, the center being spread across an area of 42,000 square meters. The facility was considered to be one of the major assets.
