The Lincoln Financial Field was entitled as the "greenest" NFL stadium till date, in the year 2013. The same year, it was ranked first in the PETA's list of "Vegetarian-Friendly NFL Stadiums".
The Lincoln Financial Field is a football stadium, located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It is also referred as the 'Linc' by the local citizens. The field opened its door for spectators on 3rd August 2003 after two years of construction. The chief architecture firms that built this magnificent stadium are NBBJ and Agoos Lovera Architects. The project manager was KUD International and the structural engineer was Ove Arup & Partners. The stadium underwent renovation and expansion for a year (2013). The Lincoln Financial Field has been the home of the Philadelphia Eagles (NFL) and the Temple Owls (AAC) since 2003.
Significance
- The first ticketed event of the stadium was a football match between Manchester United and FC Barcelona. It was held here on 3rd August 2003.
- The NFC Championship Game between the Carolina Panthers and the Philadelphia Eagles was held here on 18th January 2004.
- The field played host to the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup Final match between Mexico and Jamaica which was held at the stadium on 26th July 2015. Around 68,930 spectators witnessed Mexico's win in the match.
- On 30th August 2015, American comedian Kevin Hart performed at the stadium as a part of his "What Now Tour" which was attended by a crowd of 53,000.
- On 5th June 2016, American singer Beyoncé performed here for the first time as part of her "The Formation World Tour".
- An American football club "Philadelphia Eagles" imposed a ban on cheesesteaks and hoagies and didn’t allow them to be brought into the stadium for their inaugural season in the year 2003. The ban lasted one week.
