The ground is named after John Dunmore Lang (an Australian Presbyterian minister).
Lang Park is located in Milton, the inner suburb of the City of Brisbane in Queensland, Australia. It is officially called Brisbane Stadium and also known as Suncorp Stadium due to sponsorship reasons. It is a multi-purpose stadium but known locally as a rugby league venue and also the state's premier venue for soccer. It is the home ground of major teams including Queensland rugby league team, Brisbane Broncos, Queensland Reds, and Brisbane Strikers.
Significance
- Suncorp Stadium hosted the 2003 Rugby World Cup as its first Rugby Union game after renovation.
- On 25th May 1997, the Grand finale of 1996-1997 NSL (National Soccer League) season was held in the stadium where the Brisbane Strikers F.C. defeated Sydney United FC 2–0. Around 40,446 spectators witnessed the match.
- On 7th October 2006, the stadium hosted a friendly soccer game between Australia and Paraguay national football team.
- On 8th November 2006, the Great Britain national rugby league team played against Australia for the last time at Suncorp Stadium.
- Suncorp Stadium was also the venue of the 2011 A-League Grand Final match between the Brisbane Roar Football Club and the Central Coast Mariners. The Brisbane Roar won the match by 4-2 in the penalty shootout.
- The stadium is also home to the Lang Park Police Citizens Youth Club.
- The stadium hosts the State of Origin series and Queensland Cup Grand Final every year.
- 1993 FIFA World Youth Championship took place in Lang Park.
- The first concert in the stadium was held on 13th and 14th December 2006, featuring Robbie Williams. British rock band Coldplay also performed at the venue on 21st November 2012 and Taylor Swift on 7th December 2013.
