Also known as the Worsham Field, Lane Stadium is located in Blacksburg, in the U.S. state of Virginia. It is well known as the home field of the Virginia Tech Hokies since its opening in 1965. Carneal and Johnston, and Smithey and Boynton were the architects involved in designing the stadium in a unique manner. The ground is owned and operated by the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. In 2014, it completed its 50th year of hosting sports events since its inception.

Trivia

The stadium was named "Lane Stadium" after Edward Hudson Lane; a member of the Board of Visitors in the 1960s.
In 2005, Lane Stadium was ranked the number one in home field advantage in all of the college football by Rivals.com.

Significance

The ground hosted its first "Big East Conference" game on 26th September 1992, against the West Virginia Mountaineers football team but the home team lost by 7-16.
The inaugural game at the stadium was held in 1965 on 2nd October between the home team Virginia Tech Hokies and the William & Mary Tribe football team where VT beat their opponent by 9-7.
ESPN College GameDay was hosted by the arena for the first time on 16th October 1999, where the home team Virginia Tech Hokies played the Syracuse Orange football team.
On 18th September 2004, the Stadium hosted the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) where the Hokies played against the Duke Blue Devils Football team and won by 41-17.
