Lambeau Field is an outdoor athletic stadium, located in the City of Green Bay, Wisconsin, United States. It is the home ground of the Green Bay Packers of the NFL (National Football League). It opened on 29th September 1957. The playing field at the stadium is elevated at a level of 640 feet above sea level. It is the third-largest ballpark in the NFL (considering the standing room) and largest venue in the state of Wisconsin. Lambeau Field is the oldest invariably operating NFL stadium. It was the first modern stadium that has been built specifically for an NFL franchise. It is officially known as City Stadium.

Trivia

It was renamed "Lambeau Field" by the Green Bay city council on 3rd August 1965, in memory of Curly Lambeau, the founder of Green Bay Packers, a professional football team.

Significance

The "Frozen Tundra Hockey Classic"- a College ice hockey match was played on a temporary Ice Rink at the Lambeau Field. The Wisconsin Badgers played against Ohio State Buckeyes in the game on 11th February 2006.
A snowmobile racing event was held at the stadium in 2004 and 2005.
Lambeau has been hosting a popular annual Fourth of July fireworks display for many years.
The inaugural game at the stadium was played between the home team Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears.
The 35th National Football League Championship Game was held at the stadium on 31st December 1967.
It also hosted the NFC Championship game played between the home team Green Bay Packers and the Carolina Panthers on 12th January 1997.
The 29th title game of the NFL Championship was also played at Lambeau Field on December 31, 1961.
