The Kohl Center is an athletic center at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, United States. Opened in 1998, it serves as the home ground of the university's men and women's basketball and ice hockey teams. The sporting arena is named after former US Senator and Milwaukee Bucks owner Herb Kohl and has been built with an estimated amount of $76.4 million. The Kohl center is the regular venue for the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) high school Boys' basketball and individual wrestling championships.

On 12th February 2008, former US President Barack Obama (Democratic Presidential candidate back then) gave a speech infront of more than 17,000 people.

Significance

It was the venue that hosted the NCAA Women's Volleyball National Championship in December 1998.
In March 2008, the NCAA men's hockey regional championship was held at this center.
It hosted the NCAA Men's Basketball Regional Championship in March 2002.
The Kohl Center conducts the Varsity Band Spring Concert (an event which began in March 1975) every year. The event began in 1975 and since then has grown into a three-night affair with professional staging and pyrotechnics. Every year, around 25,000 spectators visit the center for the event.
In April 2008, the Kohl center hosted the Jeopardy! College Championship.
In May 2011, the Kohl Center hosted the opening and the closing ceremony of the 2011 Science Olympiad National Tournament.
In October 2016, a preseason National Basketball Association (NBA) game was played between Milwaukee Bucks and the Dallas Mavericks at the Kohl Center.
