Groupama Stadium, also known as Parc Olympique Lyonnais, is a football stadium, nicknamed as the Grand Stade de Lyon and the Stade des Lumières, located in France. The construction work commenced on 22nd October 2012, designed by architecture firm Populous. The General Contractor and the Services Engineer was Vinci SA (French concessions and Construction Company). An estimated amount of $415 million dollars was spent on the construction and it finally opened its gate to the spectators on the 9th of January 2016. The arena has a capacity of around 59,186. The Parc Olympique Lyonnais Stadium is owned and operated by the OL Groupe, a French football club, Olympique Lyonnais that has been using the stadium as their home ground since its opening. The stadium has a unique AirFibr hybrid grass surface that makes the field of the stadium livelier. Parc Olympique Lyonnais is currently known as Groupama Stadium for sponsorship reasons.
