Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, also known as 'The Palace on the Prairie' or the 'Owen Field', is an on-campus football arena in the arena of the University of Oklahoma, United States. The arena is owned and operated by the University of Oklahoma. It has been the home for the famous NCAA team 'Oklahoma Sooners' since its opening in 1923. The stadium is the second largest arena amongst the "Big 12 Conference" and the 15th largest college stadium in the United States.

The first football game played in this stadium was in the year 1923 between “Washington University” and “Oklahoma Sooners” where the scores were 7-62.
This stadium was named “Oklahoma Memorial Stadium” to give tribute to the students and people who died in World War I.

Significance

The total construction cost spent in building the Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium was over $293,000 (as estimated at the time of building).
The stadium witnessed the victory of home team "Oklahoma Sooners" at the "BCS National Championship" hosted by the arena in 2000.
