The most historic match in this arena was its first football match, held on 14th November 2012 between Sweden and England’s national teams. Zlatan Ibrahimović of Sweden scored the first goal of this match.

The initial name of the arena was "Swedbank Arena" but after some time it was renamed as "Friends", on an organization that stands against school bullying.
Friends Arena is the famous multi-purpose arena of Solna, Stockholm which is located near the Råstasjön Lake. It is considered as the biggest football stadium in all the Nordic countries. Opened on 27th October 2009, Friends Arena is owned by Swedish Football Association, Jernhusen, Peab, Fabege, Folksam and Solna Municipality. The inauguration of the stadium was performed by the then Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden. The opening ceremony of the stadium has the theme of "Swedish moments" directed by Colin Nutley. Arkitekterna Krook & Tjäder, Berg Arkitekkontor, and Populous were the famous architects involved in designing the structure of the stadium.
Significance
- In 2013, three sold out concerts featuring Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band as a part of their "Wrecking Ball" Tour.
- The same year, the arena also hosted the final match of Swedish Bandy Championship, witnessed by 38,474 spectators.
- This stadium also hosted the UEFA Women’s Euro finals on 28th July 2013.
- Friends Arena has hosted Speedway Grand Prix of Scandinavia since 2013.
- The stadium was selected to host the 2017 UEFA Europa League Final match.
- AC/DC gave an eye-catching performance here on 19th July 2015 which was witnessed by 53,000 fans.
