The Frank C. Erwin ground, commonly known as Frank Erwin Center is a multi-purpose terrain. It is located on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin, Texas. It is also called “the drum” or “the super drum”, because of its round, drum-like appearance from outside. The center was designed by architects Wilson, Crain & Anderson and had been constructed at the estimated amount of $34 million. It underwent a major renovation in the year 2001 and further expanded in 2003.

Trivia

Frank Erwin Center is named in honor of former UT Board of Regents member Frank Erwin who expired in the year 1980.

Significance

This stadium area was the venue for WWE Raw program in 2016.
Until 2015, this venue had hosted the finals and semifinals for the University Interscholastic Basketball League for boys and girls in all five classifications and groups.
In 2012, this venue hosted the stage for the Austin audition in the second season of famous singer search program "The X-Factor".
The venue had hosted the quarterfinal matches of the Davis Cup of 2011 where participating teams were the United States and Spain.
Paul McCartney, a famous musician from England, performed at the Frank Erwin Center in 2013 (May 22 and May 23) as part of the "Out There! Tour".
