Estádio Serra Dourada, located in Goias, Brazil, is a football stadium owned by the Goiás state Government. It was officially opened on 9th March 1975 and is reckoned amongst the best stadiums in Brazil. It has served as the home ground to many sports clubs such as Goias, Atletico Goianiense, and Vila Nova. The architecture of this stadium was designed by the Pritzker Prize winner Paulo Mendes da Rocha. The inaugural match at the stadium was played between Portugal National team and Goiás State All Stars where Goias beat Portugal by 2-1. Estádio Serra Dourada was amongst the venues that have hosted significant events of Copa America in the year 1989.
