The name of the stadium was converted to Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Cricket Stadium by the Assam Cricket Association, in the year 2010 to honour the renowned lyricist, musician, singer, poet and film-maker, late Dr. Bhupen Hazarika.

Besides the spectators’ stands, the stadium has indoor practice wicket, swimming pool, gym, media center, players’ pavilion and a 24-hour water sprinkler system.
Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Cricket Stadium, also known as 'Barsapara Cricket Stadium' and 'ACA Stadium' is a famous cricket stadium, situated in Guwahati, Assam, India. It hosts international and domestic cricket matches. The construction of this stadium began in the year 2006. The initiative of constructing the stadium was taken up by the Assam Cricket Association (ACA). The foundation stone was set in 2004 by the then Chief Minister, Tarun Gogoi. Later on, in 2007, he laid the foundation stone of the stadium’s club house and stands. The stadium is currently owned and operated by the Assam Cricket Association (ACA). The construction of the stadium was completed in the year 2012. The Assam Cricket Team has been the tenant of the stadium. Over 100 crore Rs. were spent on the construction of the stadium.
Significance
- The 2016-2017 Ranji Trophy match between Haryana and Chhattisgarh was played in this stadium from 20th-23rd October 2016.
- The Senior Women's Interstate One-day Championship (of East Zone) match, played between Assam and Odisha on 4th November 2012, was held here. It was the inaugural match at the stadium.
- Four important matches of the 2013-2014 Ranji Trophy were held at this stadium.
- The 2016-2017 Ranji Trophy match between Tripura and Services cricket teams was held in this stadium from 13th-16th October 2016.
- The 2016-2017 Ranji Trophy match between Hyderabad and Himachal Pradesh was held here from 27th – 30th October 2016.
