The City Park Ice Rink is situated in City Park, Budapest, Hungary. The construction work to build the rink commenced in the year 1869. After one year, the stadium was finally opened to spectators on 29th January 1870. The City Park Ice Rink underwent multiple renovations in the years 1968 and 2011. It has been the home for the Budapesti Korcsolyázó Egylet and the Hungarian Bandy Federation. The City of Budapest owns the City Park Ice Rink.

Trivia

The City Park Ice Rink also has a Hungarian Ice Hockey Hall of Fame to honour to the great players, referees and coaches of Hockey.
The City Park Ice Rink is considered as the largest and one of the oldest ice rinks in the entirety of Europe.

Significance

The rink hosted the 1895 European Figure Skating Championships that held on 26th January 1895.
The ice rink was selected to host the 1929 Figure Skating World Championship for females as well as pairs. It was held for two days in February.
The ice rink played host to the 1929 Ice Hockey European Championship.
The 1935 and the 1939 World Figure Skating Championships (men and pairs) were also held here.
The 1955 and 1963 European Figure Skating Championships were also conducted here.
it has served as the venue for the 2001 World Allround Speed Skating Championships.
In 2004, Bandy World Championship and 2007 Women's Bandy World Championships were held at this ice rink.
The City Park Ice Rink also played host to the 2012 European Speed Skating Championships which was conducted from 6th to 8th January.
The ice rink has also hosted the Snowball fight world record attempt in 2009 and the Art on Lake Exhibition in 2011.
