The Stadium was named Seahawks Stadium which later became Qwest Field in 2004 and finally CenturyLink Field after the buyout of Qwest by CenturyLink in 2011.

Significance
- The 86th football game between the Washington State Cougars and the Idaho Vandals that is also referred as the 86th "Battle of the Palouse" was played here in 2003.
- It hosted the 2002 Seattle Bowl event.
- Many major concerts took place at the CenturyLink Field including those of The Rolling Stones, Taylor Swift, U2, and Metallica.
- On 4th September 2004, California's De La Salle High School and Washington's Bellevue High School played in front of a crowd of over 25,000 people at the field.
- There is a large piece of art within CenturyLink Field called "The State of Football" as a tribute to high school football in the state of Washington.
- On 4th July 2009, two matches of the CONCACAF (Confederation of North, Central and Caribbean Association Football) Gold Cup opening round were played at the stadium.
- The Seattle Seahawks played their first season in the stadium in 2002.
