The Caulfield Racecourse is regarded as one of the best-known horse-racing tracks in Melbourne, Australia. The racecourse is also called 'The Heath' by the local racers. The track is 98 ft. wide with a circumference of 1.29 miles. The races are conducted in the anti-clockwise direction. The facility is located eight kilometers from the Melbourne CBD, on the boundary of the Caulfield and Caulfield East in Melbourne's south-eastern suburbs. It is the home to the Melbourne Racing Club. Crown Land owns the racecourse.

Trivia

The race course was refurbished in 2005 after which it hosted the Caulfield Cup Carnival and the Summer Classics Carnival.

Significance

The facility is also used by the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) to examine students who are unable of attending their examinations at their schools. The Open University Australia (UAO) also takes part in this program.
The Caulfield Racecourse has about 20 race days in each season, hosting Australia's most famous and historic races.
The Monash University also uses the racecourse for the end of semester exams.
The Undergraduate Medicine and Health Science Admission Test (UMAT) also takes place at the Caulfield Racecourse. It is a selection test of domestic students into individual health science courses.
The arena hosts the Caulfield Cup. It is Group 1 thoroughbred horse race.
The arena also hosts the Caulfield Guineas (a Group 1 race), Blue Diamond Stakes, Oakleigh Plate race, Underwood Stakes race.
The Futurity Stakes race is also held by the racecourse.
The facility acts as the home to the Melbourne Racing Club. The Club carries out training as well as racing events in this course throughout the year.
