The Bahrain International Circuit is a well-known motorsport circuit, located in Sakhir, Bahrain. The race circuit has an FIA Grade 1 license. The construction of the stadium started in December 2002. An estimated amount of $150 million was spent on its construction. The chief architect who designed the stadium is Hermann Tilke. The stadium was finally opened for spectators on 17th March 2004. The track usually hosts events such as the GP2 Series and drag racing. The circuit also plays host to the annual Bahrain Grand Prix. The construction of the Bahrain International Circuit was initiated by the Crown Prince Shaikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the President of the Bahrain Motor Federation.
