Also known as "Allianz Stadium", the Juventus Stadium is one of the three club owned football stadiums in Serie A, located in the Vallette borough of Turin, Piedmont, Italy. The Serie A club Juventus F.C. uses it as their home ground since 2011 by which is owned and operated. Opened on 8th September 2011, it is architected by Hernando Suarez, Gino Zavanella, and Giorgetto Giugiaro along with structural engineers Francesco Ossola and Massimo Majowiecki. The stadium has photovoltaic panels that convert solar energy to electricity. The Juventus Stadium sometimes referred to simply as 'The Stadium' in Italy, has been known for sponsorship reasons as the 'Allianz Stadium' since July 2017.
Significance
- Juventus Stadium played host to the Stadium Business Awards event, held in May 2012.
- The stadium hosted the 2014 UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) Europa League Final between Seville (Spanish side) and Benfica (Portuguese side).
- The opening match of the stadium was played between the home team Juventus and the world's oldest professional football club Notts County on 8th September 2011.
- There is a Juventus Museum which is also called J-Museum. The stadium complex also houses a shopping complex called the Area12 Shopping Centre and parking space for 4,000 vehicles.
- The rooms, kitchens and the football field are heated by a network of district heating system. These alternative energy sources enable the stadium to meet the criteria dictated by the Kyoto Protocol.
