The stadium predominantly hosts soccer and rugby matches, but it can also be used for motorsports and tennis events.
Also known as the Stade de Nice, the
Allianz Riviera is a multi-purpose stadium situated in the beautiful and the most populous urban area
Saint Isidore. The stadium has replaced the former stadium of the city known as
Stade Municipal du Ray. The construction began in
2011 and took around two years to complete. The stadium officially opened its doors in
2013 on
22nd September with a match between
OGC Nice and
Valenciennes.
Significance
- Allianz Riviera was amongst those venues that were selected to host the significant matches of UEFA Euro 2016.
- It has also been chosen to host the FIFA World Cup matches of 2019.
- On 17th July 2018, famous American singer Beyoncé performed in the arena as part of her On the Run II Tour. The arena counted the attendance of 33,662 spectators to attend the consort.
