The Chess Olympiad is an international level chess tournament, organized by the World Chess Federation (FIDE). It is held in every two years at the city chosen by FIDE. The first Olympiad unofficially took place while the 1924 Summer Olympics was held in Paris, France. On 20th July of the same year (which was the closing day of the Olympiad), FIDE was established.
