Circle style kabaddi is the local sport of Punjab which is also known as "Punjabi Kabaddi" in India and Pakistan.
The circle style Asia Kabaddi Cup is a regional kabaddi tournament, hosted by the Pakistan Kabaddi Federation. The National kabaddi teams within Asia take part in this tournament. It has been conducted three times till now: 2011, 2012 and 2016. The competition is also famous as Haryana Kabaddi and Punjab Kabaddi.
Competition Format
Circle style kabaddi is the local sport of Punjab which is also known as Punjabi Kabaddi in India and Pakistan which is played in a circular pitch of diameter 22m.
A line passes through the middle of the pitch.
Each team consists of eight players. The players raid one by one. No player leaves the field in between the game.
It is declared as foul if two stoppers attack a raiding player.
The circle style kabaddi match is conducted for a duration of 40 minutes. After 20 minutes, both team changes sides. When a player is touched, he is regarded as out.
The touched player does not go out of the field and stays inside. One point is given to the team who touched the opponent member.
One raid is played with a limited time of 30 seconds.
The thickness of the boundary should be 3 cm to 5 cm.
The team which wins the toss has the choice of either court or raid.
In the second half, the team which did not opt for raid will send their Raider first.
