The Arnold Palmer Cup is a golf competition, held throughout Europe and America, every year. It was played between American and European college level golfers. Till 2016, the competition was known as the "Palmer Cup". It was originally contested by eight-man teams but since 2013, it has been expanded to 10 per side. From 1997 to 2002, the United States played against Great Britain and Ireland rather than the whole of Europe. The competition was held for the first time in the year 1997 in Florida and was won by the United States. The Michael Carter "Junior" Memorial Award is awarded to the participant of the competition who best represents Michael Carter (ideals and qualities). The competition follows the "match play" format in which a team or player is awarded a point for a hole by defeating the opponent.
