The PGA Championship is amongst the four major championships for professional golfers, held in the United States of America, every year. Outside the United States, the tournament is often referred as the U.S. PGA Championship or the U.S. PGA. The first competition was held in the year 1916 at the Siwanoy Country Club in Eastchester, New York. Organized by the PGA of America, the championship consists of three tours: PGA Tour, European Tour and Japan Golf Tour. The format of the game consists of match-play only, from 1916 to 1957. In 1958, stroke-play has been introduced to the format of the championship.
