The Pan American Sports Festival is an Olympic-style multi-sport competition, established by the Pan American Sports Organization (PASO) for athletes from the American continents. The event is conducted in collaboration with ACODEPA (Asociación de Confederaciones Deportivas Panamericanas) and the Pan American elements of the Olympic movement. The idea of organizing such event was given by Mario Vázquez Raña, a Mexican sports administrator and President of PASO (Pan American Sports Organisation). The first event was organized in the year 2014 in Mexico wherein athletes participated in 24 Olympic Sports. The festival also serves as a qualifying event for Pan American Games for particular of the sports. Around 3,200 athletes from 41 nations participated in the first event.
