The Pakistan Super League (also known as PSL) is a professional franchise tournament of Twenty20 men’s cricket. It was founded by the Pakistan Cricket Board, the first tournament being held in the year 2016. The first season was hosted in the United Arab States, where Islamabad United emerged as champions. Two tournaments have been played so far. At present, five teams participate in the tournament. After several years of planning and two failed attempts, the Pakistan Cricket Board officially announced the launch of Pakistan Super League in September 2015. On 4th of February 2016, the tournament officially began in the United Arab Emirates. Former Pakistani team captains Wasim Akram and Rameez Raja have become brand ambassadors of this tournament by signing an agreement of three years to promote the tournament. The highest run-getter and the highest wicket taker in the PSL history are Ahmed Shehzad with 532 runs and Wahab Riaz with 30 wickets, respectively.
