The FA Cup is a men’s club football competition, but a new version for women is also held which is known as FA Women's Cup.
The FA Cup was organized by The Football Associationof England. It was first held in 1871 and is the oldest club Association football game in the world. As the Football Association organizes the match, so the name of the game is given FA Cup. In the FA Cup, the first six rounds are mainly the qualifying rounds. From the qualifying rounds, 32 teams are qualified for the main rounds of the competition. The clubs that are in the top four levels in English football leaguesystem are automatically eligible for the game. The teams in the next six levels are also eligible for the game if they have played in the previous season of FA Cup, FA Trophy or FA Vase competition. The FA Women's Cup are also held by the The Football Association.
Competition Format
FA Cup begins in August every year and continues until May.
The first twelve rounds of the game are knockout tournaments, followed by Semifinal and final.
The tournament starts with six qualifying rounds which consist of Extra-Preliminary round, Preliminary round, First round, Second round, Third round, and the Fourth round.
The Extra-Preliminary Round is competed between the two teams at the extreme bottom of the list.
The next six rounds are the final rounds which consist of first round, second round, third round, fourth round, fifth round, quarterfinals, semifinals and final.
The draw matches for the Extra-Preliminary, Preliminary and First Qualifying Rounds occur at the same time. The draw for the third round is one of top ranked match.
