The proposal to organize European Games was first declared at the 41st General Assembly of EOC, held in Rome in 2012.

The European Games is an Olympic-style international multi-sport event, held in every four years for the athletes from the European nations. The first European Games was hosted by Baku, Azerbaijan in June 2015 in which more than 5,000 athletes from 50 nations participated and competed in 20 sports in around 250 events. The Games are governed and organized by the European Olympics Committee (EOC).

Competition Format

All athletes from the European nations are eligible to participate in the event.
To participate in the event, athletes must fulfil all the rules and regulations as per their National Olympic Committee.
There are 50 National Olympic Committees that are the members of the European Olympics Committee.
