CONMEBOL Copa América is the oldest international men’s football competition. Until the year 1990, the competition determined the continental champion of South America. Now, the competition has competitors from North America and Asia as well. From the ancient times, football is known for its glory and popularity. On the Independence Day of Argentina ( 9th July 1916), CONMEBOL was founded. From then on, once in every two years, this tournament is being organized by the association. The member countries of the organization are Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela. In 1986, the association decided that the tournament should have one host country and the competition will be organized once in two years. In 2016, the tournament celebrated its centenary year, and Copa América Centenario tournament was hosted by the United States. It was the first time when the tournament has been held outside South America. Copa America is one of the most viewed and most prestigious football competitions across the planet.
