The 107th Albatross Golf Tournament is all set to take place from this Wednesday to Friday at the Tollygunge City Club, Kolkata. This is the World Amateur Golf Ranking competition and the first-ever tournament in Kolkata to receive World Amateur Ranking points.
In total, 55 golfers from different parts of the country will participate in the tournament. Participants, who will be in the age group from 06 to 22 years old, will be divided into six groups: AA, A, B, C, D E (boys and girls).
The tournament will be held in a Gross Strokeplay format: categories AA, A, B, C and D (boys and girls) will compete on 54 holes in three days, and category E (boys and girls) on 27 holes.
Only AA category participants will be eligible to receive World Amateur Ranking Points. The main objective of the Albatross Junior Tour is to encourage young golfers through competitions and training camps.
Veteran Indian golfer and coach Indrajit Bhalotia, who is also the director of this tournament said, “This tournament allows local talents to get on the world amateur ranking points list. Also, it is a nice way to find some talented young golfers. All social distancing norms and Covid-19 protocols will be strictly adhered to.”
