Born on 3rd July 1951, Sir Richard John Hadlee is a former cricketer from New Zealand who is well-known as the greatest pace bowler and an all-rounder in the history of cricket. Besides this, he is also a former chairman of New Zealand Board of selectors.
His achievements are:-
Hadlee took 431 wickets in his test career and became the first ever bowler to take 400 wickets.
Hadlee won the Windsor Cup 13 times for the most commendable bowling performances. He won 12 of them in a sequential manner.
In 1980, he was appointed the MBE for his commendable efforts and services to the country.
Sir Richard Hadlee was honored as the "Wisden Cricketer of the Year" in 1982.
In 1987, he was entitled as "New Zealand Sportsperson of the Decade."
In 1990, Hadlee was given the honorary title of knighthood for his sincere efforts and encouragement of the sport.
Hadlee's name was inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame in 2009.
