The 2018 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational will be a professional golf tournament held August 2–5 on the South Course of Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio. It will be the 20th WGC-Bridgestone Invitational tournament, and the third of the World Golf Championships events in 2018.The field consists of players drawn primarily from the Official World Golf Ranking and the winners of the worldwide tournaments with the strongest fields.
Two more of the world’s top players added their names to the field at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, with the tournament announcing today that fan favorites Rory McIlroy and Rickie Fowler have committed to the season’s final World Golf Championships event, which will take place Aug. 2-5 at Firestone Country Club’s South Course.
Fowler and McIlroy are currently ranked No. 7 and No. 8 in the world, respectively. Fowler has yet to win on TOUR this season, but the four-time winner has logged two runner-up finishes at the OHL Classic at Mayakoba and the Masters. The 29-year-old has had plenty of close calls at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational as well, having recorded five top-10s in eight total appearances, including four in a row heading into this year (T8/T10/T10/9).
