From 22nd to 30th September 2018 Innsbruck-Tirol will welcome the world’s best riders at the UCI Road World Championships, a leading annual road cycling event. More than 1,000 athletes will take part in individual and team time trials, as well as road races during eight exciting competition days.
The Tirol is ideal for stretches with especially difficult climbs due to its magnificent mountain roads. In accordance with the claim ‘Riding the Heart of the Alps’, the planned route for the Men’s Elite Road Race with approximately 5,000 metres of altitude difference already gives a first glimpse of how spectacular and challenging the 2018 UCI Road World Championships in Innsbruck-Tirol will be.
Twelve races in total will be staged in the categories Women’s & Men’s Elite, Women’s & Men’s Juniors and Men’s U-23. The races will set off in one of the official start regions Ötztal, Hall-Wattens, Alpbachtal Seenland and Kufstein and lead riders along different routes to finish in the heart of the region’s capital, Innsbruck.
Not only are hundreds of thousands of spectators expected to line the race routes, but also live TV coverage broadcast in 150 countries will reach an audience of 200 million people every day, making the UCI Road World Championships the greatest summer sport event ever held in Austria.
A total of twelve races will be held between 22 and 30 September 2018 in the categories Elite Men, Elite Women, Junior Men, Junior Women and U23 Men. More than 1,000 athletes will compete on eight action-packed competition days in the disciplines Individual Time Trial (ITT), Team Time Trial (TTT) and Road Race.
