The BB&T Center is the largest arena in Florida and also the second largest in the Southeastern United States followed by the Greensboro Coliseum.
Broward County decided to fund a new scoreboard for the BB&T Center which was installed on 11th October 2013.
The home-ground of the Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League (NHL), the BB & TCenter is located in Sunrise, Florida. It is an indoor arena which was formerly known as the National Car Rental Center, the Office Depot Center and the Bank Atlantic Center. The construction work commenced on 8th November 1996 and total US$185 million were spent on it. The center finally opened its door for spectators on 3rd October 1998, specifically designed by architecture firm Ellerbe Becket. Broward County owns the center. The stadium has served as the home for Florida ThunderCats (NPSL) from 1998 to 1999. It was also the home ground for Florida Bobcats (AFL) in between 1999-2001.
A professional wrestling pay-per-view event "WWF Armageddon" was held in the arena on 12th December 1999.
Irish rock band U2 performed here as a part of their "Elevation Tour" on 24th and 26th March 2001.
The 2001 NHL Entry Draft & 2015 NHL Entry Draft were held here, hosted by the Florida Panthers.
It has also hosted the 2003 NHL All-star game and the 2006 ABA All-star game.
A bull riding event of the Built Ford Tough Series tour was held in the stadium in September 2005.
American Punk Rock band "Green Day" performed here on 26th August 2005 as a part of their "American Idiot World Tour".
American Rock band Bon Jovi performed in the arena on 26th April 2008.
The Lightweight bout between Nate Campbell and Ali Funeka took place in this stadium on 15th February 2009.
The UFC on FX 3 (martial art event) was held here on 8th June 2012. It was the first UFC event hosted by the venue.
