The hockey field can be converted for lacrosse, soccer, touch football, gridiron and other outdoor events.
The State Netball Centre or more popularly known as State Netballand Hockey Center is a multi-event organizing arena, situated in the Royal Park, Parkville in Melbourne, Australia. The arena is currently home to the Melbourne United basketball of National Basketball League as well as to the Victorian Vikings hockey teamof Australian Hockey League. The center was opened on 16th of March 2001 after a span of two years of construction. It is owned by the Victorian Government and operated by the State Sport Centres Trust that runs the arena as a non-profit facility.
In the year 2006, the Commonwealth Games were held at the arena in which all the hockey and netball preliminary games were held.
The State Netball Center welcomes around 500,000 visitors annually.
The arena has witnessed the ABN AMRO Men’s Hockey Trophy Championship in the year 2009 and 2012.
