The stadium is used as the home ground by the local professional team Rosario Central. The Argentine soccer team also uses it. The Estadio Gigante de Arroyito was one of the sub-headquarters of the 1987 Copa America.
First Phase, Group ‘C’ matches of the 1987 Copa America were held at the Estadio Gigante de Arroyito on 28th June, 1st July and 5th July.
The Estadio Gigante de Arroyito hosted three First Round Group B matches and three Second Round Group 2 matches of the 1978 World Cup.
The last match of the Rugby Championship of 2012 also took place here on 6th October. It was the last match of the legendary Argentine rugby player Rodrigo Roncero.
