It is a trophy that is awarded annually by the International Cricket Council (ICC) to its chosen world player of the year.
The award is given under following categories:-
Awarded to the best Team in Test Cricket by the ICC.
Awarded to the cricketer who has performed phenomenally well in the international T20 cricket format.
Awarded to a new player who has shown a tremendous performance within a short span of time. The players eligible for this award must not be above 26 years of age at the beginning of the voting period and have played not more than five Test and/ or 10 ODIs prior that date.
The award recognizes and rewards the efforts of an outstanding player in ODIs from the six countries viz Bermuda, Canada, Ireland, Kenya, the Netherlands and Scotland who are not the full members of the ICC.
Named after the renowned English umpire David Shepherd; the trophy is presented annually by the board to the ICC umpire of the year.
Presented to the best woman cricketer in T20I format.
