In 2009, The Iowa Speedway was selected to host the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race and a Nationwide Series race.
It was declared on 5th July 2011 that the Manatt family is the primary owner of the racetrack. NASCAR purchased the Iowa Speedway in November 2013.
The Iowa Speedway is an oval motor racing track, situated in Newton, Iowa, United States. The track was designed and patterned in resemblance with Richmond International Raceway (where American racing driver Rusty Wallace won many races) by Paxton Waters Architecture and Rusty Wallace. The construction work of the race track commenced on 21st June 2005, and an estimated amount of $70 million was spent on it. It finally opened to spectators on 15th September 2006. The racetrack was initially known as the "Quad Cities International Raceway Park". The track is owned and operated by the Iowa Speedway, LLC (subsidiary of NASCAR).
Features
The American Ethanol E15 250 and U.S. Cellular 250 races of the NASCAR Xfinity Series are held at the racetrack in June and July, every year.
The Iowa Speedway is the home to NASCAR Camping World Truck Series – Speediatrics 200 which is held here in June, every year.
Firestone Indy Lights and Pro Mazda Championship races of the "Road to Indy" (driver development program) are held here, every year in July. It also plays host to the ARCA Racing Series – Prairie Meadows 150 every year, in the same month.
The racetrack conducts the Verizon IndyCar Series "Iowa Corn Indy 300" in July, ever year.
