Gelora Bung Karno Stadium (also known as GBK) is situated in central Jakarta, Indonesia. It is opened on 24th July 1962 and named after Indonesia’s first President-Sukarno. The Government of Indonesia owns the stadium. It primarily hosts football matches along with various musical concerts of International artists and bands including Linkin Park, Metallica, Bon Jovi, Slank, and One Direction. The stadium is also used for political gatherings, national ceremonies, admission exams and religious affairs. Indonesia national football team and Persija Jakarta are the tenants of this stadium since 1962 and 2008, respectively.

Gelora Bung Karno Stadium has been chosen to host the final match of Asian Games football tournament in 2018.
The stadium has hosted the Football Asian Games in 1962 and Southeast Asian Games in 1979, 1987, 1997 and 2011. It has also been chosen to host the upcoming Southeast Asian Games of 2018.
It has also hosted the Sudirman Cup in the year 1989.
The stadium has thrice played host to the Asian Athletics Championships in the year (1985, 1995 & 2000).
The stadium has also hosted Tiger Cup matches (final match, semifinals, Group matches, third place match) in 2002 and 2004.
Gelora Bung Karno Stadium hosted the final match and few group matches of AFC Asian Cup in 2007.
The stadium recorded the highest number of attendance (1,50,000) during the concert of English Rock band "Deep Purple" on 4th December 1975.
It also witnessed significant matches of AFF championship in 2002, 2004, 2008 and 2010.
