The FIFA Confederations Cup is an international association football tournament, played amongst national teams. FIFA has six continental zones (UEFA, CONMEBOL, CONCACAF, CAF, AFC, OFC) the regional champions of which participate in the tournament along with the host nation's team and the FIFA World Cup holder. Usually, the tournament was held in the host nation of FIFA World Cup.In 1997, FIFA took the responsibility of the tournament and named it FIFA Confederations Cup. From 2005 onwards, the tournament has been held in the host nation of FIFA World Cup, one year prior. The Golden Shoe is given to the player who is the highest scorer. The top teams of FIFA Confederations Cup are Brazil, France, Argentina, Mexico, and Denmark.
The eight teams are divided into two groups to play in a round-robin format.
In each group, two teams from the same confederation can’t stay together except there are three teams from the same confederation. Total three matches are played.
The rankings of each group have been determined by the goal difference in the group matches, points obtained in the group matches, and the total number of goals scored in each match.
By all the parameters, the semifinalists are selected to play the final game and the defeated group play the third place game.
